The Reflex® Platinum Mastercard® credit card can be a valuable tool if you are looking for a specific product to help you build or rebuild your credit score.

That is because this card caters to consumers with bad credit that had their applications denied by other institutions.

It is a very straightforward product that offers an initial credit limit between $300 and $1000 with a potential increase in just six months.

It also provides reports to all three main credit bureaus once a month. And to top it all off, this card allows you to have access to your monthly score at Experian after signing up for e-statements.

However, those are all the benefits this product has to offer. Since it’s a product designed for low credit scores, the issuer needs compensation if a new client fails to pay their credit card bill on time.

Therefore, the card charges their cardholders a high annual fee and high interest rates.

The card company even charges some of those fees before you begin to use their product, reducing the amount of credit available from the start.

For instance, if you have an initial credit limit of $1000 and your annual fee is $75, your actual spending limit will be $925.

That said, check out some of the benefits and drawbacks of this product below.

Pros

  • Up to $1,000 credit limit doubles up to $2,000! (Simply make your first 6 monthly minimum payments on time).
  • See if you’re Pre-Qualified with no impact to your credit score.
  • All credit types welcome to apply.
  • Access to your Vantage 3.0 score from Experian (When you sign up for e-statements).

  • Monthly reporting to the three major credit bureaus.
  • Fast and easy application process; results in seconds.
  • Use your card at locations everywhere Mastercard® is accepted.
  • Checking Account Required.

Cons

  • High APR.
  • Charges maintenance fee after 12 months.
  • No intro bonus, rewards, or cash back.
  • Charges $30 for an additional credit card.
  • A checking account is required.

Credit scores required

This card is for people with limited or bad credit. Therefore, if you’re interested in applying for it, a credit score as low as 300 should get you approved.

Be sure to read all the information before sending in your application. Not using this product properly can impact your financial health even further.
