1. Getting Started
To start, visit the PayPal website and click the “Prepaid” tab. The first step in your application process is to enter your basic information:
- First name;
- Last name;
- Address and ZIP code;
- Email address.
2. Choose a Card
After submitting your information, you can choose a design: blue, pink, or white card. Pick the one that matches your personality or style.
3. Review Fees and Read Cardholder Agreement
The cardholder agreement outlines the terms and conditions of using the card, including how to reload your card and recover lost or stolen cards. So, it’s important to read it.
4. Make Your Direct Deposit
If approved for the PayPal Prepaid Mastercard®, the card takes around 7-10 days to arrive in your house.
Then it’s necessary to activate it with a direct deposit – paycheck or tax refund- according to your preference.
You can use the app or phone to add money to activate your card. Afterward, you can use your card at any store or ATM that accepts Mastercard.

Bancorp Bank issues the PayPal Prepaid Mastercard®, while Green Dot Bank issues the Walmart MoneyCard.
PayPal Prepaid Mastercard® offers the convenience of instant money transfers from your account and shopping online or in person with millions of merchants.
Walmart MoneyCard, on the other hand, is exclusively available at Walmart stores and has cash back rewards and the option to add cash to the card at Walmart locations.
The fees and features of each card may differ, so it’s important to review their terms and conditions to choose the one that best fits your needs.

- Annual Fee: monthly fees of $5.94 (waive the Fee with a direct deposit – see terms);
- Regular APR: N/A;
- Welcome bonus: $20 bonus available (terms apply);
- Rewards: 3% cash back at walmart.com; 2% cash back at Walmart fuel stations; 1% cash back at Walmart stores (reward valid for up to $75 each year).
